My favourite speech is from a politician(Barack Obama). He made America believe that he is their best president election , and of course not forgetting his famous quote"yes we can" which made thousands of people to put their votes on him and nobody else. How did he do it? That is what i wanted to know and surely, i found out why which partly is the reason to why it is my favourite speech. Now let me share with you why it is my favourite speech.
Firstly from the above video you can see that he speaks with confidence and determination in his voice to a huge crowd of people and his tone is most suitable for addressing people in these numbers. This amazes me greatly, as i have a upcoming speech to give this skill is very important to me.
Secondly he is very picky with his words meaning that he chooses the words that he want to say carefully and often utilizes the audience's applause to think about what he is going to say next. Being a politician he must now the peoples' hearts and assure them that he will make the change, that is what makes me respect him as a good speaker.
Last but not least he sometimes repeats his words to gain emphasis on his point such as the slogan "yes we can. This lets the audience gain a deeper understanding of what he his trying to say. Being a future speaker this is also important to me as it is such a skill i could use in my upcoming speech.
These are the points that make it my favourite speech. Enjoy the video.

#5 A problem i encounterd and how i managed to solve it
Picture from:http://www.prescriptionwealth.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/06/true_problem.jpg
Have you ever had a problem that seems to you almost impossible to do or solve. Well i had. On this fateful day, i decided to renovate my whole room. As you can predict it was a huge and daunting task
At first i had to plan out how to put the things i wanted it to be, that was the easy part, now the hard part is to think how in the world can i fit all my stuff rearranged, into my minute room. Therefore i took measurements of the room and drawn it to scale with the room. Next, i measured the length, height, and breadth of my furniture.
Then i needed to heavy things around, like a table and a bed. *screams*. Luckily with the help of my family i managed to get past this in a breeze.
Next i also had to think of a environmental-friendly way to decorate my room. For example pasting thousands of plastic mirror pieces to a huge ball to make a disco ball, or having my light bulbs changed to environmentally friendly light bulbs. Well i did all of that except the disco ball part. I also found a way that i can decorate my room and at the same time show my dedication towards my hobby, reading up stuff about the environment and all. I would make a figurine of the increasing human population against the decreasing animal species out of newspaper. This reminds me to take care of the environment every time i come into my room, something in which i wish to keep in my head.
The last problem i faced is that i must keep within my budget, not to overspend or to underspend. Therefore being a wise consumer, i decided to separate the stuff that i wanted to by into the want category and all the stuff i need into the need category. Being the objects i would like to buy in the need group, i decided to buy them all, but being the object in the wants group, the stuff there will be classified as not necessary and therefore will not be put to as importance as the stuff in the need category.
Finally my room is done. After a day of hard work i restored my room to probably the most fabulous room i can ever imagine. The bed is facing the closet beside the window and the table is in front of the window giving me a good view of the lake in front of my house, making me relax and do my work easily.
In conclusion i feel that everybody needs patience. This is as patience helps you get things done. In the above experience i shared it would not have worked out if i did not have patience. If i hadn't had patience, every time i need to do something more i would fly into a rage and completely ignore it. Here is a video about a patience lecture. Enjoy.

#4 A special moment i spent with my family
Picture from: http://www.thecakelist.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/birthday-cakes49.jpg
Today is my sister's birthday. Every year we will celebrate it without fail, no matter how late it is. This year is the same case as well. Since she was hitting a important age of her life, we decided to make it a huge celebration.
First we went to a buffet caterer to cater a buffet for her birthday. We also had to invite every single one of our family members, grandmother and all, the list goes on and on. My family and i did this one day before the birthday so that we did not have to rush everything tomorrow.
Since my sister was working the very next day, which is coincidentally her birthday, my family and i took the opportunity to decorate and fuss up the house before she came back home from work. We placed happy birthday cards on the walls and streamers on the doors and pasted balloons everywhere. Of course not forgetting the most important cake which we decided to order about an hour before she came so as it is just in time for the celebration, and also to keep the cake as fresh as possible.
After calculating the time needed for her to get back, we armed ourselves with poppers at the door. We did that at about 8.30 , an estimated one hour for her to get back home from work.Just at that moment we heard a "clip clop" sound. Thinking it was a false alarm we just went on with doing our stuff. However a few seconds later, we heard the swinging of the metal gate! Knowing it was my sister, we got ready. At the moment she turned on the lights, we fired like never before. A surprised sister with streamers all over her greeted us. At that moment we took out the birthday cake with candles and started to sing her a birthday song. Still shocked she blew out the candles and said a big thank you to all of us. As she went in she marvelled at the decorations with tears streaming down her face ,she said that she thought we forgot her birthday. Then we explained to her everything. After the whole celebration and cake eating session, i left my parents to be left alone with her and came into my room to write this blog.
In conclusion i feel that family bonding is very important and i hope to have such happy occasions next time.
Here is a video that is about how to set up for a birthday bash, some of my ideas came from there too.

#3 A strange happening
Needless to say, just like many others, I hold a deep curiousity towards fantasies and the unknowns. Fantasies and unknowns attracts me deeply as they are arenas which I have not and am unable to explore. Sometimes, I would try to imagine what is it like to be in one of the fantasy movies, such as Avatar, where everything around me would be so magical.
Given this, I have much love and likening for suspenseful movies such as X-Men and Harry Potter. But maybe, because my interests in these things, I feel that sometimes, strange things do happen in around me. Or rather, it is my imagination, after all, I am the only one in the family who has frequent nightmares. Most recently, a strange thing happened to me.
I was in the middle of my homework. The light is bright but my eyelids are heavy. Words are starting to blur and swim before my sight. OMG! I thought, I still have so much to complete. But I am bored and tired. How can I finish them in time! I thought to myself.
Suddenly, the sharp high tune of the telephone ring cuts through my thoughts. I jumped up in my seat as though a electric bolt hit me. I get up and get to the phone. Holding up the line I speak: Hello.
But at the other end, silence greeted me.
I tried again. “hello, who’s there”. But no one answers
Who can it be? It is already late in the evening. All my family members are asleep. Can it be some irritating kids who are playing with the telephone. Irritation welled up inside me as the idea flush in my mind.
“ Who are you. Don’t try to be naughty, I will tell your mum”. I retorted in an imitated anger tone to scare off whoever is at the other end of the line. This time, I could hear a breathing sound. But still, no one speaks
As i was reading my book the inevitable happened to me. Due to my tiredness i just sort of fell.
And guess what, the next day, my father found me fallen asleep, limbs across the desk and with a copy of Harry Potter in my hands.
Here are a few pictures and a video of strange happenings. EnjoyVideo from: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cwOwfO67oTg

#2 The day when i saw a drink can one feet from the dustbin and thought about the topic consideration
Where did our consideration spirit goes? This is a frequent topic that is being discussed online and on newspaper. Despite the constant reminder to be considerate citizens of Singapore, many of us still lack the quality of being considerate towards others in the society. But we have clearly learnt how to be considerate and convenient towards ourselves no doubt.
Why did I said so? Because recently, I came across a example of the definition of being inconsiderate. Below is a recount of my encounter
On the way back home, I came across a tin can lying just 6 steps away from the nearest dustbin. At first, I wanted to pick it up but an urgent call from my band mates shift my attention away from the bin. I need to get back as soon as possible in order to send them the documents which they have wanted. To get back in time, I ran across the field which was separating my house and the Mass Rapid Transit station.
Back home, I sent the necessary documents, took a shower and completed my homework. I was about to pack my bags when the sound of my stomach groaning alerted me to the need to fill my stomach. I picked up my wallet and decided to go to the hawker center nearby. In the process, I walked along the path leading to the MRT station.
What greeted me before I step into the station was the pathetic sight of the tin can, still waiting to be disposed off. OMG, I thought to myself, it has been 3 hours and yet, no one bothers to pick it up and throw into the dust bin! Even though it is only less than a feet away. Furthermore, it is rush hour time, the human traffic flow is extremely high. Crowds and crowds of people walked past me. Yet, no one bothers to pick that up. Why? Simply because, it will dirty their hands. Or, it is not their business, It is the problem of the station’s cleaning auntie. Or maybe is it that they would not want to “embarrass themselves”.
So, we rather choose to kick the object here and there, back and fro, between you and me. Rather than picking that up and throwing in the nearest waste bin, where it belongs to all along. Wow, so much for being a gracious citizen of Singapore. Singaporeans, what have we made of ourselves, please spend this few minutes after reading this blog to reflect on yourselves. We must live up to the standards we are renowned for. A clean and green country, that is what we are renowned for, not a dumping site.

#1 A moment i spent alone doing some thing i like
What do you do during your spare time? I am sure you would like to do something meaningful for example doing or revising more homework or resting your eyes to get ready for the next homework session after your nap. However there is something else you might want to consider doing, keeping a hobby. Therefore I would like to share with you a moment i spent alone doing what i like during my spare time
I often go and surf the web. No, not face book or any other games and social networks but researching on wildlife and collating information. In order to find more information and gain more experience i often take visits to the botanical gardens and nature parks to observe and gain more knowledge. By learning, seeing new plants I finally realized the importance of nature and appreciating it. there is also a video below that shows the importance of being green below.
I also take part in stamp collecting. During my period of stamp collecting I often come across stamps from Singapore. Therefore in order to collect new foreign stamps I treasure the chance when I am able to go for a holiday. This is the best chance to collect stamps from foreign countries especially china, since I go there every year. This activity help me to come across some of the things about other countries I never knew. Here is a stamp that i have seen i like the most below
The last thing I would do when I have spare time is to read. I like to read adventure books, fiction and encyclopedias. Many of which I borrowed myself. This helps me to improve my English which is not quite up to standard and also including again more knowledge.
In all I feel that as compared to watching television or playing games you can take up a hobby. Now you see that it is not always studying that can increase your mighty brain but the little things you do as well. Hobbies are definitely far better than playing and also helps train personal discipline.
